Our Life in Christ Worship We gather together to receive our Lord's blessings in Word and Sacrament each and every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and for various festivals throughout the church year (Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Ascension, and Thanksgiving). During the seasons of Advent and Lent we gather together in prayer each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Holy Communion The Lord's Supper, in which we partake of Christ's true body and blood for the forgiveness of sin and the strengthening of faith, is joyously celebrated every Sunday and on certain Christian festivals. Holy Baptism The Sacrament of Holy Baptism, by which we are forgiven all our sin and clothed with the righteousness of Jesus Christ, is available to infants, children, and adults. Please speak with our Pastor for more information. Holy Absolution Individual Confession and Absolution (as taught in Luther's Small Catechism) is available by appointment with our Pastor. All confessions are kept in strictest confidence. Adult Bible Study Our chief Bible study is offered each Sunday beginning at approximately 10:30 a.m. (after worship and fellowship). Special Bible studies are also be offered during the week at various times throughout the year. All are welcome! For a list of current classes being offered, click here. Sunday School Classes Sunday school classes are available to children ages 3-18 each Sunday beginning at approximately 10:30 a.m. (September thru May). Lessons center on well-known Bible stories. Music and crafts round out these educational classes. All are welcome! For a list of current classes being offered, click here. Youth Group Our youth group is comprised of active junior-high and high school students. These dedicated youth meet regularly for Bible study, activities, munchies, and to plan various outings and service projects. All are welcome! Adult Catechesis (Instruction in the Christian Faith) Those desiring to become members and receive the Lord's Supper here at Divine Shepherd are catechized in the Christian faith according to Holy Scripture and Luther's Small Catechism. Please contact our Pastor for more information. Youth Catechesis (Confirmation Class) Those youth who wish to confess their baptismal faith publicly (in the Rite of Confirmation) are catechized in the chief articles of the Christian faith according to Holy Scripture and Luther's Small Catechism. Please contact our Pastor for more information. Visitation of the Hospitalized and Homebound Our Pastor visits those members of our congregation who are hospitalized and/or homebound. This visitation includes Scripture readings, prayers, and the Lord's Supper. Weddings Marriage is an holy estate instituted by God Himself for the life-long union of one man and one woman. Those who are faithful members here at Divine Shepherd may be married in our church. Funerals The Christian funeral centers on the proclamation of Jesus Christ and the victory that is ours in Him! Those who were faithful members here at Divine Shepherd at the time of death may receive a Christian funeral in our church. Fellowship Activities Our life together as brothers and sisters in Christ is enriched regularly here at Divine Shepherd with a variety of fellowship activities: coffee and goodies each Sunday after worship; family game nights; soup and salad dinners; church picnic; scrumptious Oktoberfest; ladies' nights; bake-a-thons; bowling leagues; youth events; senior events; fundraisers; etc. Vacation Bible School (VBS) A week-long VBS is held each summer for members and visitors alike. Sessions include Bible study, music, crafts, games, and food. We'd love your children to join ours in learning more about the Christian faith during this awesome week! |
